Use it sensibly, and it stays free.

Plain language, because there is no account to sign and nothing to pay for yet.

The short version

4 rules
rule 1

Scan sites, not people

Point the scanner at websites. Do not use it to probe infrastructure you have no business probing, and do not use it as one step in a larger attempt to break into something.
rule 2

Stay inside the rate limit

Five scans an hour per IP address. Do not route around it with proxies or scripts. If you have a genuine need for more, ask.
rule 3

Do not resell the output as your own product

Use a report however you like for your own work or your clients’ work, including publishing it. Do not wrap the scanner in a paid service of your own.
rule 4

Do not attack the service

No attempts to overload, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the scanner or the machine it runs on.

What we promise

not much

The scanner is provided as it is, with no warranty. A score is the output of fifty automated checks running once, against the entered page and up to ten more, in under a minute or two. It is a useful signal and it is not an audit, a certification, or a substitute for someone who knows your system.

A clean report does not mean a site is secure, fast, or correct. It means these particular checks found nothing. Do not make a decision that matters on the strength of a number from a free tool — ours included.

We do not guarantee availability. A report is deleted from the server as soon as it is delivered to your browser, so treat a report link as temporary and copy anything you need to keep.

Accuracy and mistakes

wrong

Checks can be wrong

A check can misread a page, time out on a slow network, or flag something that is correct in context. If one does, tell us — it is the most useful message we get.
liability

We are not liable for what you do with a report

To the extent the law allows, Smart Capture Studio is not liable for loss arising from use of the scanner or reliance on its output.

Changes and questions

These terms can change. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page. Continuing to use the scanner after a change means you accept it.

Paid plans are not live yet, so nothing here covers payment, refunds, or cancellation. Those terms will be published before anyone is charged. Questions go to [email protected].
